Artist Dale Chihuly began working on Macchia, Italian for "spot," in 1981. Inspired to use all 300 colors in his hotshop, Dale experimented boldly with shapes, sizes, and unexpected color combinations in this series. Since 1994, Dale has created a series of Studio Edition works based on his most iconic original works including Baskets, Seaforms, Macchia and Persians . This 2019 Flamingo Macchia Studio Edition embodies the radiant properties of glass through its unrestrained palette of colors. Varying hues of rose, blue, and orange daub the exterior while a spiraling red tonal body wrap emphasizes the ebb and flow of the rippled form. The dazzling lemon-yellow interior illuminates the sculpture creating an elegant blend of opacity and transparency anchored by a black lip wrap. Each edition piece is handblown and will vary slightly in size, color, and shape. Signed by the artist and etched with edition number. Approximately 6½"H x 7"W x 7"D
